Aaron McCusker has confirmed there is drama ‘coming very soon’ for his on-screen family, The Driscolls, in the ITV soap
Coronation Street star Aaron McCusker has confirmed there is drama ‘coming very soon’ for his on-screen family, just months after their arrival on the cobbles.
The actor was seen making his debut in the ITV soap as Ben Driscoll the partner of Eva Price who secretly brought her the Rovers Return before revealing all by returning her to Weatherfield, towards the end of October last year.
It marked Eva’s first time on the cobbles in seven years, with actress Catherine Tyldesley reprising the role as a new era in the beloved boozer got underway.
As well as Cath and Aaron, best known for playing Jamie McGuire in Channel 4’s Shameless, Corrie viewers were also introduced to Ben’s mother, and Eva’s ‘mother-in-law from hell’, Maggie Driscoll, who dropped the bombshell that she is in fact the owner of the Rovers, with her being the one to bail her son out of his money predicament.
The family, including Ben’s sons and Eva’s daughter, have wasted no time in getting settled in Weatherfield and are already involved in a number of dramas, some that even Ben and Eva have no idea about, including Will Driscoll’s attack on Daniel Osbourne, who is dating Megan Walsh, the athletics coach grooming the teen.
However, it seems the Driscolls need to brace themselves for even more chaos, with Aaron teasing that the family will be delivered some life-changing news in the very near future.
“There’s a big bombshell that’s about to be dropped that is going to rock us all to our core,” the soap star told Inside Soap. “It has the potential to bring us all closer together or the potential to tear us completely apart. That’s all I can say, and you’ll have to wait, but it’ll be coming very soon…”
While it’s not clear what the bombshell is, it has been confirmed that Maggie is one of five potential murder victims as it’s been revealed in a flashforward episode that a death will rock the cobbles on April 23.
The groundbreaking flashforward episode, which became available from 7am on Monday (February 16) morning on ITVX and YouTube, before airing on-screen tonight at 8.30pm on ITV, confirms that Megan Walsh, Theo Silverton, Maggie Driscoll, Jodie Ramsey and Carl Webster are the five potential victims of the upcoming murder, as each potentially having reason to be brutally killed.
The flashforward episode begins with a police interview taking place on April 23rd 2026. As the drama unfolds a shocked and anxious Betsy is seen telling the detectives about finding the dead body of someone she knows.
Dressed in wedding clothes she explains that she had been at the marriage of her mum Lisa Swain to Carla Connor, but was heading into town when she made the shocking discovery. As the episode returns to the present day we begin to see how the behaviour of the five characters could lead to their possible death two months later.
When the special episode comes to a close, it again flashes forward again to April 23rd and the five characters are on the cobbles as Lisa and Carla’s wedding fireworks light up the night sky. As the lights flicker a battered and bruised Carl, frantic Jodie, a menacing Maggie, a bloody-nosed Megan and a furtive Theo stare into the darkness.
In the final moments the terrified scream of Betsy Swain fills the air – but which Weatherfield resident will it be that Betsy finds on April 23rd?
Coronation Street is on weekdays at 8.30pm on ITV and STV and is available on ITVX and STVPlayer from 7am daily
