Australia’s Eurovision Song Contest 2026 entry Delta Goodrem is no stranger to the spotlight, and has had an extremely successful career.
The 41-year-old star was chosen as Australia Eurovision entry for the 2026 contest. Australia has finished in the top ten five times, with its best result being a second-place finish with “Sound of Silence” performed by Dami Im in 2016.
Australia first competed in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2015 as a special guest to mark the 60th anniversary of the competition. Australia was invited to participate because of its long-standing, enthusiastic, and highly-rated broadcasting of the event since 1983 by SBS. Despite being a “one-off” invitation, Australia’s success led to continued annual participation.
Delta will be performing the song Eclipse, hoping to take home the win for the first time for Australia. She’s no stranger to performing, however, both in the music and acting world.
She’s already a household name in Australia after joining the cast of Neighbours in 2002 as teenager, Nina Tucker. However, she left the role in October 2003 to undergo treatment for Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Delta later returned for various installments, including the 2022 finale.
Her diagnosis came just four months after her pop record Innocent Eyes was released, meaning her career slightly derailed to focus on her health.
She previously recalled: “It changed the trajectory of my life completely. The whole country was sitting outside my front door watching me and my family go through this thing the best we could.”
Delta admitted that losing her hair was one of the toughest parts, and she couldn’t wait to “feel pretty” and get creative again. Fortunately, she made a full recovery and went onto release six albums.
The singer has had five number ones in Australia, with her latest record, Bridge Over Troubled Dreams topping the Australian album chart.
Sadly, in 2018 Delta experienced further health problems after suffering paralysis of a nerve in her tongue while having her salivary gland removed. In an interview she shared: “I couldn’t speak a word, let alone sing, and I had to learn how to talk from scratch. It definitely wasn’t a walk in the park, but the amazing nurses helped me find my feet again.”
In terms of her romantic life, Delta shares an ex with Kerry Katona as they have both been with Westlife member, Brian McFadden. Kerry and Brian announced their separation in 2004 and divorced in 2006, but Brian found love quickly with Delta in 2004.
The pair stayed together for seven years, even getting engaged before they decided to call it quits in 2011. However, Delta married her long-time partner and band member, guitarist Matthew Copley, in a romantic ceremony in Malta in 2025.
The couple, who had been together for over six years, got engaged in September 2023 at the same location before marrying in a “fairytale” ceremony.
